Roman Shades

Tonight while I was doing my weekly perusing of my fellow RH Bloggers' updates, I was inspired by Steve + Erica's post about their blinds.  There has been a long debate at my house as to whether or not window coverings were really necessary (after all we will only ever have one neighbor and the lot next to us is vacant for the foreseeable future).  Once I priced out the expense, the hubby was definitely against hiring someone to install the roman shades I so desired.

Sooooo that left me with one option.....install them myself!  I would rate myself as above average in the "handiness" department.  I'm no Sgt. Rich, Steve + Erica or Thomas, but I can operate a drill and screwdriver well enough to install some shades....right?????

Turns out that the roman shades I purchased from Home Depot were very easy to install (about 10-15 minutes per window).  I chose the DesignView brand because they come in an array of colors and had lots of sizes in stock.  The only tools required to install were: (1) drill with 1/16th bit; (2) screwdriver; and (3) pencil (to mark holes for drilling).  All the other necessary hardware is included.

Take a look at my handy work...

  2. Those look great!! Unless we find a fantastic deal like Steve and Ericka, we will be installing ourselves as well. We will have neighbors all around us, so it's a must.

  4. The shades look great! We are DIYers too, and we have our bedroom blinds installed. I'm waiting until we are moved in to decide what I want for the first floor. Love your color combinations!

  5. Great job! Those look awesome and create some great contrast. Were going to create drama with accent colors and walls so hopefully we will end up with a nice palette as well. Still debating on what to do with the deck door, we were looking at a similar solution. JCP has some bamboo sliding panels for large doors that have the same look as your shades...plus our son works there so thats another 25% off :)

    1. Thanks. I'm curious about shades for your doors. Still debating if I should cover ours. Decisions....decisions.... P.S. I am super jealous of your JCP hook up. All of our curtains are from there :)

    1. Thanks! The shades in the family room (lighter) are Designview Maple Providence collection and the shades in the dining room (darker) are Designview Mahogany Nepal. I would highly suggest seeing them in person before purchasing becausee the colors online are a little off :)
