Fellow blogger Charissa (see her blog
here) just brought it to my attention that Ryan Homes has an official blog
here. My blog along with a few others are listed on the Bloglist. Looks like there is interesting home decor and DIY info. Thanks for sharing Charissa!
I noticed my blog on their blog roll as well. I wonder why they haven't added any others? And why they changed the name to "Diaries". I'm not quite sure how I feel about this as I do not want anyone to get the impression that I am associated with RH or getting compensated for documenting our journey. I have already censored some of our hiccups because of how much confidence I have in our PM to make things right. Am I being too sensitive? How do you feel about it?
ReplyDeleteI had many of the same thoughts! The only thing I could think of is that we are both building more unique floorplans? I also do not want folks to think that my blog has been "planted" by RH. I plan on adding a disclaimer to my homepage. I heard RH read these blogs....but I had no idea...
DeleteI purposely did not mention my blog to our SR or PM. I started it back in Sept and it wasn't until march that one of them made a comment about it. Now I really feel like "Big Brother" is watching. I want to be honest, but the last thing I want to do is tick off the people who are building my home! I plan to continue posting as usual - I feel I've been more than fair and have tried to remain objective for the most part. Overall, I've been pretty satified throughout the process, but I'm saving most of my opinions for the survey at the end!
ReplyDeleteI did the same. We've had a pretty good experience too...but there have been some minor issues. I agree that you should just continue being honest and deal with the problems at survey time. We are closing tomorrow so I will be less inclined to care who is reading. I plan on doing a "What I've Learned" post after closing...because I feel like these blogs are really a good source of information about how to navigate the process (not just putting up pretty pictures of color selections).
Delete...and what's with calling it a "Diary"????
DeleteHmm. I took a different approach and told both my PM and my SR about the blog. I was thinking that they might be proactive on any issues I had knowing that I will be blogging. No one wants negative stuff said about them so I was thinking they would listen more intently if I mentioned the blog. The blog is for my anxiety more than anything else but I love the documentary portion of it all. You never know when you might need a photo of something or a date when something happened. I agree with the thoughts about them just placing your blog on their list without you knowing. That seems a little strange. I figured anyone on it gave permission.

Hi - Glad our blogs are helping out other Ryan Homes owners (and future owners). Please feel free to use this blog in your social media endeavors :)
DeleteHello! I started my blog to help shed light on what is unchartered territory for most of us - building a home. I'm glad it has been helpful to those who may be considering new construction with RH. I'm happy to see that RH is taking a plunge into the social media world. Please feel free to share my blog as you think it is appropriate.
ReplyDeleteI am happy to see that RH decided to join the world of social media. I just hope that they listen and reactive to customers concerns, requests, recommendations and complaints versus just reading them passively. For example, I am still waiting for an answer on whether RH will allow me to place a different color cabinet that is offered by their manufacturer in my Avalon. I have to wait 2 weeks to get an answer. In the meantime I have to pick out backups. This should take no more than a two minute phone call to their cabinet manufacturer for pricing. I would love to see them create boards on Pinterest that feature all of their model homes.
